Internships with The Never Again Foundation

The Never Again Foundation would be nowhere without our current and past interns, legal fellows and volunteers. Heather has been a legal fellow with the foundation since March and tomorrow is her last day with us! We wish her the best of luck in her new adventures! 

Below is Heather's blog post about her experiences with the Foundation over the past few months: 

"When I first joined The Never Again Foundation I thought that it would be like any other law office. The stereotypical place where everyone has an ego, interns, and other employees, lower on the totem pole are overworked and under appreciated. And there is never anytime to get to really know whom you are working with.

That stereotype is the exact opposite of what I found. Keith Perkins, the founder of the Never Again Foundation, is open and caring, he always has time for anyone who needs him. Keith understands that the world doesn’t revolve around work and encourages everyone to put their family first in their lives. The mentality at the Never Again Foundation is that we are all in this together. To that end, everyone makes time to help anyone else who is having problems, work related or otherwise.

While working at the Never Again Foundation I created a plethora of different tasks ranging from complaints, motions, and assisting in depositions. I corresponded with clients, defendants, prosecutors, guardian ad litems, and the Attorney General’s Office. One time another intern and I were tasked with investigating the site of a crime. Every day was something new and different at the Never Again Foundation I never quite knew what would happen next.
